GWT Foreline Filter for Dry Scroll Vacuum Pumps

High-efficiency vacuum foreline filters (GWT) with replaceable paper or polyester filter elements for trapping particulates, protecting pump mechanisms, and extending operating life in Geowell oil-free scroll vacuum pumps.

Price range: $185.00 through $215.00

Dedicated vacuum foreline filters engineered specifically for scroll vacuum systems, featuring KF25 and KF40 flange connections with selectable paper or polyester media to prevent particulate contamination and ensure reliable continuous operation.

Features and Benefits

Dual Filter Media Options (Paper & Polyester)

Available with high-retention paper elements for fine dry dust or durable polyester elements for moisture-resistant, washable, and heavy-particulate applications.

Standard KF25 & KF40 Flange Compatibility

Designed with standard NW/KF25 and NW/KF40 quick-clamp flange connections for direct, tool-free installation on pump inlets with zero airflow restriction.

Superior Pump Protection & Extended Maintenance Intervals

Traps airborne contaminants and process debris before entering the scroll wraps, preventing premature seal wear, scoring, and costly pump downtime.

High Vacuum Integrity & Low Pressure Drop

Robust vacuum-rated metal housing with tight O-ring sealing delivers exceptional leak tightness and optimized internal conductance across rough and fine vacuum ranges.

1. How do I choose between a Paper and a Polyester filter element?

  • Paper Element: Best suited for standard dry, fine particulate applications (such as glove boxes, vacuum drying, and analytical instruments). It offers high filtration efficiency for microscopic dust.
  • Polyester Element: Best suited for processes involving slight moisture, humid gases, or heavier particulate loads. Polyester elements are more durable, moisture-tolerant, and can be gently blown clean or washed for reuse.

2. How do I select the right filter size (GWT25 vs. GWT40)?

Select the filter model according to your pump’s inlet flange size:
  • Choose GWT25 for pumps equipped with a KF25 (NW25) inlet flange (e.g., GWSP75, GWSP150, GWSPB75, GWSPB150).
  • Choose GWT40 for pumps equipped with a KF40 (NW40) inlet flange (e.g., GWSP300, GWSP600, GWSP800, GWSP1000, GWSPB300, GWSPB500).

3. Does the GWT filter come complete with a filter element included?

Yes. Every GWT filter assembly comes pre-installed with your selected filter element (Paper or Polyester). For ongoing scheduled maintenance, replacement filter cartridges can be purchased separately on our dedicated Replacement Filter Elements Page.

4. How often should I replace or clean the filter element?

Inspection frequency depends on your operating environment. In light laboratory applications, inspect every 1,000–2,000 hours. In dusty or continuous industrial processes, inspect monthly. Replace the cartridge whenever you observe heavy discoloration, accumulated cake, or a noticeable reduction in system pumping speed.

5. Can the GWT filter trap liquid droplets, condensed vapors, or solvent aerosols?

The GWT filter is primarily designed for solid airborne dust and dry particulate contamination. While the polyester element offers moisture resistance against humid gases, it is not a liquid condenser or cold trap. For processes involving heavy condensable vapors or large amounts of solvents, we strongly recommend installing an inline Cold Trap upstream of the pump.

6. Will installing a GWT foreline filter reduce my pump's pumping speed or ultimate vacuum?

No noticeable impact under normal clean conditions. The GWT filter housing and filter media are engineered with a high conductance ratio to minimize flow restriction across rough and medium vacuum ranges. As long as the filter element is inspected regularly and not severely clogged with dust, your pump will maintain its rated pumping speed and factory-spec ultimate vacuum.
